Eric Overmyer On Season One

August 24, 2010

Eric spoke to Offbeat’s Alex Rawls mostly about the past  season but also gives us a brief sneak preview of season 2. Good stuff.

If you’d like to see Eric and the rest of the terrific Treme panel that Maitri has put together, there’s still time to register online for Rising Tide 5. If not, you can always make like a New Orleanian and do the last minute thing  by showing up at the Howlin’ Wolf on Saturday 8/28. The Treme panel starts at 4PM. Be there or be square, y’all.

    Davis:

The pre-conference party is at the Wolf on Friday at 7:30 and the Treme panel starts Saturday at 4 so you’re half right.

I stayed here for Katrina and from what I’ve seen on treme, I think True Blood is more realistic than treme. I see very little that actually happened in the city of new orleons that did to myself and others that were with me. It is a good show but I think it strikes more of nostalgia then truth. I hate to say this because so many people like the show and I wish it were true to. I have friends and relatives that live around the country and even they ask me about the validity of the show and to be honest I can only tell them about what I went through and I hope we or anybody has to go through something like that ever again. I’ve never been in a war zone before and I think Katrina was pretty damn close to it. Thanks and I am sorry to bust a few bubbles…….PEACE OUT…….

interesting to read that they did have just a one season commitment from Goodman. I had suspected that that might be the case, but I also thought maybe he’d change his mind after being involved for awhile. But he does have many fish to fry, I guess. [This may be the only time that the Simon possee had to try to convince someone to continue- the usual has seemed to be that an actor finds out their character is going to be killed and they beg to stay] Had Goodman stayed, it would’ve been interesting to see how they factored in his recent weight loss- I guess with the ‘depressed person has stopped eating’.
