What if Treme ruins us?
Billy Southern asks an important question on his blog Imperfectly Vertical:
Given that the new HBO show Treme is coming out in a few months, and will highlight and celebrate this culture, I wonder whether next year’s Super Sunday will remain the same terrific event or whether the attention it is bound to get will somehow change [Super Sunday] if hipsters fly in from New York and LA to see this amazing art and culture.
God, I hope not. Super Sunday is an event that fits comfortably into a half-city block sized park, and the crowds along Claiborne are small and neighborly. The idea that Super Sunday could turn into [INSERT NAME OF BIG ROCK STAR WHO HAS NO BUSINESS BEING THERE] at Jazz Fest is more than I want to think about this early on a mildly hungover day-after-not-so-super Monday.
